Tether, a tool by The Catori Foundation
Last updated: July 15, 2026

Tether learns you through what you do, not who you are. Here's exactly what that means.

What we store

Behavioral patterns and  preferences — how you use Tether, what works for you, what doesn't. This is how we get better at showing up for you. It stays until you delete your account.
The name you go by — during onboarding we ask what you'd like to be called, so Tether can address you personally. It can be a first name or a nickname, we never ask for your full legal name. It's stored with your account and stays until you delete it.
Session logs — kept for 12 months on a rolling basis. Older sessions drop off automatically.
In-app conversation history — cleared every 24 hours. Automatically. No exceptions.
Community and direct messages — removed from our system after 30 days.
Account sign-in — we use your email address to send a one-time sign-in code. Tether does not use passwords.

What we never store

Tether learns through your patterns, not your identity. No full name, no location tracking, no profile. What we learn stays yours, and you can delete everything, instantly, whenever you want. If you joined through an organization, anonymous usage patterns are shared with them while your access is active. Nothing that identifies you is ever included. When access ends, sharing stops.

Nothing that identifies you is ever included. When access ends, sharing stops. We only store patterns to help make your Tether experience better for you.

Community Guidelines

This is a space for people going through hard things. You belong here.

What we ask of you

Be real. You don't have to be okay. You don't have to have answers. You just have to treat the people around you the way you'd want to be treated when you're the one falling apart.

What keeps this space safe

We ask everyone here to:
Speak from your own experience
Listen without judgment
Respect that people are in different places
Keep what's shared here, here

What that looks like

Everyone here carries a perspective shaped by their own life. These rooms aren't about agreement, they're about support. You don't have to fully understand someone to be kind to them. If a view differs from yours, both are valid and both are welcome here. You can try to understand each other, or you can choose not to engage. Either is okay. Just remember, what someone shares here is a small piece of a much bigger story.

What doesn't belong here

We will remove messages that include:
Slurs, hate speech, or attacks targeting someone's identity
Personal attacks or insults directed at another person
Threats or harassment of any kind
Explicit sexual content
Spam or promotional content
Sharing someone's personal information without their consent

About safety

If something you read or wrote brings up thoughts of hurting yourself, please reach out. 988 is available by call or text, any time. The Crisis Text Line is available by texting HOME to 741741.

If a message concerns you, flag it. A real person reviews every flag

Your identity here

All identities in Tether Community are anonymous. Your display name is randomly assigned. We do not share your information with other users.

Moderation

We use a combination of automated detection and human review. Accounts that repeatedly violate these guidelines may lose the ability to post. Before a message is posted, it's reviewed by Anthropic's Claude AI to help keep this space safe for everyone. The content of your message is shared with Anthropic for this purpose only. If a message isn't a fit for this community, it won't be posted, and you'll receive a response based on what you were trying to share and the spirit of what Tether Community is about. You can block another person at any time. When you block someone, you won't see their messages and they won't be able to message you. You can manage your blocks from your profile.
